John Deere is testing an AI assistant called JD that is designed to answer farmers’ questions using their own operational data, according to The Verge. The tool is in an Early Access Program for select U.S. customers inside the John Deere Operations Center, rather than a broad public rollout. The assistant draws on “field, machine and operational data,” The Verge reports, and is meant to respond to questions about farm operations and equipment. Examples cited in the report include equipment settings, fuel usage, harvest timing, best practices, and historical trends based on a farmer’s own data. John Deere is positioning the assistant as a way to help farmers make more money, according to The Verge. The core mechanic is straightforward: instead of requiring a farmer or operator to manually dig through operational records, the assistant can answer questions against the data John Deere already collects through connected machines and farm-management software.
